Difficult God Questions

Why do some people have HOPE and others don't?

I have noted that phenomenon often. I love the definition I heard for hope once, "Hope is God's however". When hard things happen, God will always follow with, a however...I can help you get through it and even help you see life good again. I do like that and has been my experience often.

Would it be that people's life experiences, good or challenging, directly measure ones amount of hope? I don't know, there seem to be "well off people" pretty hopeless and destitute others very hopeful. How does one grow in hope?

What is Prayer to YOU?

I love to pray for people, some may say what does that mean? To me, to pray for others, is to stand in the wide circle of God's love...which includes ALL people and all of creation! Prayer is standing in love with another person. Prayer is walking in the faith that light shall rise from any darkness. Prayer is being in the presence of God with all I think, desire and do. Prayer is my immediate connection to your heart, where we are one in Love and God. What do you think prayer is? And I would love to include your prayers intentions to my own:) Please hold my Dad in yours, as he is challenged with illness at this time.

Who Loves Who More?

An interesting thought came my way and I pass it on to you. What do you think about God and relationships? It is a hard one to explain...like I think about how much I love God, yet when I think of my loved ones out of my life, it all pales, does that mean God is not enough or I am not loving God as much as I should/could?

Yet, when I asked God about this person I loved, I felt God saying, "I would never put myself before that person?" It was like being cloaked by a God of SUCH humility. I was like in AWE! I learned more about God from that one experience, than many others! What learning and a witness of what I am called to do....not put myself before others, not out of a sense of false humility, but simply out of great love! Come on in and let me know what you are thinking...

That question has been with me these days...as I listen to so many people through the day, which is my blessing and privilege, I note how each life is called to do this and how hard it can be. How do you experience this in your life? Do you think God made us this way...to hold both pain and joy at the same time within us? Do we hold them in the same place within or in different places within? Is our goal to "get rid of the pain" and just be joyful? Is that possible? Is that our life goal which brings that peace the world cannot give? What was Jesus' experience of this human phenomenon? How Do You Experience God's Healing In Your Life?

I have been thinking about this a lot! What does it mean to be healed by God? How do you know you have been healed...do things "feel" differently, do you "think" differently, does the "thing" you were healed from never "pop up" again? Is there a difference between being healed and being cured, if so, what is it? Does being healed mean now that you are just more "aware" of your vulnerabilities and can make better choices now? Do you feel You are healed only when you do not have to even think about "it" anymore and now am free just to move and live and have your being? Will God heal anything we ask? Do all of us have things that need to be healed? Do we live a happier and more free life if we are healed? What does a "healed" person's life look like? Intelligent Design

Since Becky is currently out of town, I thought I’d add a new discussion topic to keep the dialogue going.

Recently, President Bush stated his support for the teaching of intelligent design alongside evolution in science education. The theory of intelligent design says life on earth is too complex to have developed through natural selection, implying that a higher power must have had a hand in creation.

Does the theory of evolution counter your belief in God as creator? What do you think about the teaching of intelligent design in public school science curriculum? Do theories like intelligent design belong in a science classroom or in a philosophy/religion class? If we do not teach ideas like creationism and intelligent design in schools, are we undermining students' religious beliefs?

I can't wait to read about all of your thoughts on this topic. :)

This has been such a "hot" topic in all parts of our society and world and on so many different levels! I am wondering what you are thinking about it? I have heard many opinions on it and just when I feel close to believing what is "right" another discovery is made that continues the moral dilemma. In the future, I really do think this area is going to be as life-changing (or more so) as the invention of the computer which I think as altered completely the heart, soul, mind and matter of each of us! It has been an incredible tool of conversion and perversion, though I personally believe more experiences of conversion have been the result. Is that not the plight and risk of every awesome discovery ever made? Log and on and let us know your thoughts and feelings!

My heart is mixed! I know, again, our North American issues have a slight chance of being addressed...meaning women empowerment in church leadership roles, such as ordination, the ability for priest to marry, embracing fully our gay brothers and sisters, more reprimand of priests/bishops covering up priest molestation, etc.....Again, I am reminded of our global church, what are their needs? Genocide, Aids epidemic, utter poverty in Africa, oppression and deep poverty in Latin America, trafficking of women and children across the world, still 2/3rds of our world going to bed hungry every night!

I don't know, again where will the Pope put his 78 years of energy? My spirit was so moved by the crowd, literally 1,000's upon 1,000's, of young people in the Vatican Square so jubilant and enthusiastic. I can't ignore that, what dream is burning in their young hearts? What are they feeling or seeing what I am not? Can I remember what I felt when I was 20 and how I viewed the world and what I thought it needed to make it better? Was I more "black and white" more traditional back then?

Your Thoughts and Feelings about the "Going Home" of our Pope John Paul II

I began my morning at 1:00am as I curled up on the couch with a blanket to pray with the millions around the world, thousands upon thousands in the square, and the hundreds gathered around the Vatican outside altar. All gathered, all equal, around a very holy man laid within a simple, humble, cypress coffin, that he requested to return to the arms of his dear Mother Earth, the ground from which he sprang!
As I watched into the wee hours of the morning I was more and more moved by the love, hope and union that was and is so present in our world, I feel I can just reach out touch it. Continued thoughts inside...all are welcome to share!
