How Do You Know that YOU Matter?

Just received a great response from 'Elizabeth' who asked the question about who has made you feel like you matter. Come on in and give us your thoughts on...Who made you feel like you mattered and what affect did that have on your life? I still need to answer it! Love and Peace, your sister with heart

From 'ELizabeth' on the past post....

Did anyone watch the Oscar’s?
I did and I always enjoy the evening. One particular movie I loved this year was 'Walk the Line'. A simple love story but the characters were complex and real.
When Reese Witherspoon took the award for best acting female, I was glad. But what really impressed me was her speech. One phrase she said ...”when I was little, my Grandmother made me feel like I mattered, she believed that I could be and do anything ”.

Recently I read a series of reflections I read every lent. It takes me through the 40 days with daily thinkings. Week One’s reading coincidentally, is all on “What Really Matters?” It reflects on the awareness of God and His dreams for you. Leave behind any temptations that you don’t matter. (that can be a tough one for me somedays) Trust that you do matter. God has given all to you to complete HIs dream for us.

Some questions I have been asking myself are, who made me feel I mattered as a child, was it a parent, encouraging teacher, a stranger? Who has recently shown me that I matter? How did they do this? Even just a smile, or the offer of help at just the right time. Has this helped me build my present self?

I think that understanding and beleiving you matter can only bring a closer love of God and builds a trust in what you can do and the choices you make.
So in turn, If I believe I matter, than it seems it would come easier to love others show kindness to a friend, a child or someone who matters to you and perhaps leave an impression of Gods love with them so they feel they matter too. How wonderful it would be if I mattered to the innocence of a child or a loving friend and in turn make them know that they too matter!

Try to think back to who mattered to you on your life and who you mattered to... who left a footprinton your heart? We really do matter to God and to our loved ones.

“You are precious in my eyes....and I love you” 43:4

Hope you come again, Momma, thanks for coming back on and letting me know you are still out there:)
I still can feel the enthusiasm with which you shared...a hope and energy so needed today! Please venture out again:)

To this question of "mattering' in the world. I believe I do matter in this world and it is a growing realization. The more I know I matter the more I know that you matter. We really are one people with one God on one planet!

I am writing a lot of songs now (working on getting a 3rd CD out) and feel that message more and more within each of them...it is giving me such hope, peace and joy that is allowing me to carry the 'pain and transition' of our times in a way that brings healing and life about in a new way.

WE all matter and each of us have a part in the life story of our planet. Some will come to that consciousness, others not, but all will be loved by God along the way....and I pray by me as well!
God's peace, your sister with heart
